My website was past due for an update so I decided to hunt down a decent theme and found one at FreeCSSTemplates.org.  I worked the theme into a simple master page for the main part of christopherDeweese.com and wanted to also make it a theme for BlogEngine.Net 1.5.  After a few hours of hacking around I finally had a running version (most of the time was spent waiting for IIS settings to refresh at GoDaddy – used to having more control of servers!).

Creating the theme for BlogEngine was as simple as cloning my master page from the main site and then creating a PostView.ascx and CommentView.ascx user controls.  For both the user controls I just followed an existing template but worked it in with the layout for the new theme.  The process that didn’t take a ton of effort with just a minimal understanding of master pages and themes.  There are still a few minor issues that I’ll work out as I have time.

Check out the new site, nothing should have changed for you, all the addresses remain the same.  I plan on posting quite a bit more to the projects section as well as eventually creating a few new pages as well.  Send me some feedback!
